We won!  Well, we actually took 2nd, but we felt like we won! :) The points were so close – we were only 11 points from first place, out of 600 points possible!  For us that’s a big deal.  While at Silver Dollar City, we saw the Huntley Sisters (www.huntleysisters.com), who we’ve known for a long time, and we got to watch the Jeanette Williams Band.  Gary’s favorite part was the check they gave us that was four feet long. Lol! Not only was the competition fun, but we met so many good pickers and nice people!  We jammed Friday and Saturday night, which was cool because it’s hard to find a jam with other kids.  We met a lot of new people, including the Hartley family (www.hartleyfamilybluegrass.com), and had lots of fun jamming with them :).  We were sad to miss the jam Sunday night, but we had a LONG drive (12 and a half hours!).  This morning, John remembered he had an assignment for history where he needed to take a picture of himself with his history text book in front of a historic landmark.  We had already passed Lincoln’s log cabin, so we decided to stop at Benjamin Harrison’s house to take a picture really quickly.  We weren’t even going to tour the house or anything.  We got there and decided we wanted a tour, because it is a really beautiful brick house, and it was huge! :)  And then we found out that the house was closed because it is Memorial Day!  We got the picture anyway, and saw the rose garden and the sundial lol!  We’ve decided that the next time we go through Indianapolis (which could be a long time from now) we will plan to stop and check it out.
